Kevin John Best, 1932-., Australia.
| ||
|
Kevin developed an intense love for drawing at an early age - proof of which are the surviving sketches of warships and planes he made during the 1940's. With no formal training, Kevin Best launched his full-time professional career during the mid 1970's and, by the 1980's, he was widely recognised for his atmospheric landscapes characterised by mist, rays of light and the all-Australian dusty outback. Although he has always admired the great artists of the Heidelberg school, Best attributes his artistic inspiration to the unique Australian landscape. He is constantly challenged by the variety that Australia presents in snow, rivers, surf, gum trees, rocks and the contrasting colour schemes. From his first "one man show" of 50 paintings in 1974, Kevin Best has been purchased by the private and corporate art collector throughout Australia and overseas. Many of Best's fine paintings have also been reproduced as prints, in calendars and other media.
