Thomas Dean, 1857-1947, Australia.

Thomas Dean was born in Worksop, Notts., U.K. in 1857. He migrated to Australia about 1876, and lived in the Sydney suburb of Kogarah for the major part of his life. Dean exhibited with the Art Society (Sydney), later the Royal Art Society from 1893 to 1940. He is represented in a folio of paintings presented to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York in 1901. A number of the paintinqs still retain the original hand carved frames with stylised decorative motive of waratahs. Dean died in Kogarah NSW in 1947. Contributed by Leonard Joel Pty. Ltd.
