George Duncan painted mainly landscapes and his work was frequently selected for hanging in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Wynne Prize competitions. From their first joint exhibition at Macquarie Galleries in 1933 they continued to exhibit, mainly together. George Duncan and his wife Alison Rehfisch died within a few months of each other after many years of quite artistic activity and collaboration. A. retrospective memorial exhibition of their work was organised by Macquarie Galleries in February 1976.
