Tom Esplin, 1915-., New Zealand.

Tom Esplin was born in Motherwell, Scotland. He gained his Diploma of Art at Edinburgh College and prior to emigrating to New Zeland, exhibited with the Royal Society of Artists, Great Britain and with the Royal Society of Water-colourists, Scotland. In 1940 he obtained a Specialist Teacher of Art - Diploma and during World War II was a Captain with the R.A.B.E.F.
After arriving in New Zealand he became a 1955 a Senior Lecturer in Design and School of Home Science at the University of Otago in 1955, and then Associate Professor of Design from 1978, until his retirement in 1985.
He has painted full-time since then, and devotes regualr time each year to travel abroad for painting. His paintings are represented in Galleries and private collections throughout the world.
