Zoltan Fenyes, 1924-97, Europe, Australia.

Zoltan Fenyes was born in 1924, in Budapest, Hungary. He studied at the Academy of Art in Budapest. During World War 2. he served in the Hungarian Army and, was captured and, sent to a Siberian prisoner-of-war camp, by the Russians. After his release, Fenyes returned to Budapest to study and teach but, in the 1956 uprising, he left the country and went to live in South America. He studied in Buenos Aires, becoming Professor of Arts and, in 1959 left for Australia. Fenyes taught art in Sydney technical colleges and, at the National Art School until 1982. He was the winner of several major prizes and awards in South America and Australia and, has held several successful one-man exhibitions. Fenyes died in Sydney, in January, 1997.
