In March 2002 the gallery moved from its Claremont premises into its purpos built gallery in 24 Church Street Perth. The building , a stunning 3 story building comprising of the exhibition space, an upstairs dealing room and a private residence, was designed by award winning architect David Hillam. The gallery has established a reputation for supporting innovative contemporary art and successfully introducing some of the best Western Australian artists to the Eastern States and overseas. Artists represented include Julie Dowling, John Cullinane, Butcher Cherel Janangoo, Mulgra Jimmy Nerrimah, Indra Geidans, Yvette Watt, Peter Skipper, Mona Chuguna, Joanna Lamb, Peter Hill and artists from the Irrunjtyu community. Since 1998 Artplace has held regular exhibitions at Galerie Gaswerk In Schwabach, Germany. From 2000 onwards, a three months Artist In Residency is provided by Galerie Gaswerk for an Artplace artist each year.
