Kevin Charles (Pro) Hart is Australia's. best known and most sought after artist of recent times. He was born in Broken Hill, NSW, in 1928 and raised on the family's sheep property "Larioona". He is completely self-taught, and was discovered by Kim Bonython in 1960 after which he held his first solo exhibition at the famous Bonython Galleries in North Adelaide . This proved a resounding success, being an entire sell-out. His nickname "Pro" is short for "Professor" because of his constant dabbling in inventions.

Pro Hart is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1969 of 9,122, of which 7,056 (77%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $99,875 for The Banjo Patterson Mural (5) sold by Christies in May 2003. This year 77 works have been offered for sale. Works by Pro Hart are held by the National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of South Australia and a further four major public national galleries (see list below).
