About Gloria Tamerre Petyarre
Born at Mulga Bore in the Northern Territory in 1945, Australian Aboriginal artist Gloria Petyarre is a batik painter. She started her career as an artist in the Women's Batik Group in 1977. She exhibited in Sydney in 1988 and then travelled with the eshibtion to Ireland, England, India, and the U.S. In 1999 she won the Wynne Prize.
