Born in 1951, Mark D. Phillips is a representational painter of genre subjects. Mostly a self-taught artist, he has exhibited his work in Victoria since 1973. He is an award-winning fine art oil painter and triple winner of the prestigious Australian Society of Artists Annual Exhibition. Working oils and acrylics, he specialises in palette-knife techniques and his popularity reached a peak in Australia during his stay in the eighties. Mark was raised on a farm in the Cape and has always had a love for Southern Africa. This rural childhood brought him many inspirations as a young man and he knew from an early age that he would spend his life painting.
