Born in New South Wales in 1910, cartoonis and painter, John Santry studied in Sydney and at the Westminister School in London from 1937 to 1939. Also known as an illustrator, he worked at several Sydney daily newspapers during the 1930s. In the 1950s and 1960s was a lecturer at Sydney University and at the East Sydney Technical College. He was secretary of the New South Wales Society of Arts.
