Born in Latvia in 1939, Senbergs arrived in Australia in 1950. Although he has had no formal artistic training he has worked as a screen printer and attended the melbourne School of Printing & Graphic Design. Now established as a painter and printmaker, he won the Helena Rubinstein Travelling Scholarship in 1966 and travelled to Europe the same year to study. He was appointed Lecturer in Fine Arts at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology later in 1966 until 1990. He has exhibited in many parts of the world.
