Thomas Allom was an English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator. He was a founding member of what became the Royal Institute of British Architects. He never visited New Zealand, but in the 1840s made plates for lithographs based on watercolours and drawings by Charles Heaphy published by the New Zealand Company.

We have records of art auction sales by Thomas Allom from 1994 and in total 16 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 14 (88%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $16,733 for Mount Egmont from the North Shore of Cooke's Strait, New Zealand, Natives Burning Off Wood for Potato Grounds sold by Christies in June 1996. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2020. Works by Thomas Allom are held by the Queensland Art Gallery and Christchurch Art Gallery.
