Born in Egypt in 1962 Hany Armanious grew up in Australia where he gained a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the City Art Institute, Sydney in 1984. Best known as sculptor and installation artist, he was a key figure in Sydney's grunge scene of the early 1990s. He won the Moet & Chandon award in 1998 and in 2011 was Australia's representative at the Venice Biennale.

We have records of art auction sales by Hany Armanious from 1995 and in total 29 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 20 (69%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $15,600 for Scaring Away the Human Form (Death as Advisor) sold by Sotheby's in August 2009. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023. Works by Hany Armanious are held by the Auckland Art Gallery, Museum of Contemporary Art and a further eight major public national galleries (see list below).
