Born in 1944 in Strathfield, NSW, Tony Edwards is best known as a cartoonist and illustrator. Between 1973 and 1981, he drew the crude and politically incorrect Captain Goodvibes cartoon strip for surfing magazine Tracks. he published his first children's book Ralph the Rhino in 1982 and was illustrating for the National Times in 1986 until it ceased publication in 1998, after which he moved to the Sun Herald. In 1998 he won a Walkley Award for 'Best Artwork' for a cartoon published in the Sydney Morning Herald in that year. He is also an accomplished landscape artist, working with oils on canvas.
