Kym Hart, the second son of renowned artist Pro Hart, was born in Broken Hill in October 1963. Under the early influence of his father's work he has progressed to an individualistic style of bush landscapes. Kym paints mostly in oils but he also uses goauche, watercolours, etching, monotypes and block printing. Preferring to paint on-site, he belongs to what some call the 'plein air school of painting' as "you see colours you could never mix if you were just sitting in the studio or painting from a photograph" he says. He believes the landscape around his home town of Broken Hill provides the most inspiration as it is alive with history and vivid colours. Kym has travelled widely both within Australia and overseas and has painted in a number of countries including Egypt, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Hawaii.
