Born in Lithuania in 1943, Kapociunas arrived in Australia as a six year old child in 1949. He studied at the South Australian School of Art and was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship for Fine Arts in 1962. In 1964 he won the National "Goya" Award, and was granted a Travelling Scholarship in 1965. He was a lecturer at the South Australia School of Art. He has exhibited throughout Australia and in England including the Summer Exhibition in 1967 in London.and is represented in several public collections, including the state galleries of Victoria and South Australia.
