Born in New South Wales in 1913, Solomon studied at the East Sydney Technical College and in London. Principally a landscape artist, Solomon painted bush scenes, usually of the area around Sydney. He won the New South Wales Government Travelling Scholarship for Landscape Painting in 1939, and the Wynne Prize in 1946 and 1953.
