Born in The Netherlands in 1942, Hans Arkeveld studied in Perth, Adelaide, New Guinea and New Zealand. A painter, printmaker, sculptor and teacher, Arkeveld has exhibited in Australia since 1967. After decades as artist-in-residence at the School of Anatomy and Human Biology at the University of Western Australia, he was elected an Honorary Fellow in 2000, and received the Chancellor’s Medal in 2000. In 2009 he was awarded the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award from Artsource, WA’s leading visual arts body.
