About James Ashton

James Ashton was born in the Isle of Man, father of Sir William Ashton. A marine painter, he founded the Norwood Art School in Adelaide in 1885. On a return visit to Britain circa 1895 he studied under the Royal Academy marine artist Henry Moore.
