Born in Melbourne in 1931, Therea Frances Kennedy, gained a two-year art scholarship whilst attending secondary school serving as a basis for her understanding of several mediums and her appreciation of the Master, both old and contemporary. She paints principally in oils and concentrates on landscapes painted in a traditional reallist style with an individual knife and brush technique. Theresa Kennedy has been the recipient of several awards, notably the H.C. Sleigh $1,000 award for oils (1980) and her work has featured in several successful exhibitions.
