Born in Otago, N Z in 1932 Annie Elizabeth Baird was principally self taught. However she did attend classes run by Doris Lusk and Colin McCahon. Her work is also influenced by Cezanne and Matisse. Best known as a watercolourist she illustrated several books and was the winner of numerous art prizes and awards.
