Born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1926, Alan Collins studied at Wellington Technical College School of Art and at Central School of Art, London. After returning to New Zealand he worked for National Publicity Studios, eventually becoming its Director. Best known as a watercolourist he is an elected member of New Zealand Academy of Fine Art and a member of Watercolour New Zealand.. He has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and overseas.
