About Susan O'Doherty
Susan O'Doherty was born in Brisbane in 1960 she grew up in Sydney. A self taught painter, she started painting in 1992, painting in figurative and abstract idioms, expanding her practice with a variety of media in the early 2000s to include mixed media assemblage, sculpture and collage. She has exhibited since 1997 in galleries in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and New Zealand, and has and has jointly exhibited with her husband, fellow artist Peter O'Doherty. Her most significant exhibition, 900 Eyes, Domestic Lives, opened first at the Manly Art Gallery in Sydney in 2008 before touring to Tweed River Regional Art Gallery and Maitland Regional Art Gallery. Susan O'Doherty been selected for various art prizes, including the Redlands Westpac Art Prize, Mosman Art Prize, Norvill Art Prize and the Cadry's Art Prize.
The total number of works by Susan O'Doherty offered for sale by auction since 2004 is 25, of which 13 (52%) were sold. This year one work has been offered for sale.
