Fiona Murphy was born in Melbourne in 1958. She gained a PhD in Visual Art from Monash University in 2013. She was awarded the City of Hobart Art Prize in 2005 and a Yerring Sculpture Award in 2004. A survey exhibition of Fiona's ceramic sculpture was held at the National Gallery of Victoria in 1991, and she showed internationally at SOFA Chicago 2000/2001.
