Born in Canterbury, New Zealand in 1903 Alexander McLintock studied at Dunedin Art School and in London. From 1936 he studied History at London University, associated with the prominent artists of the time and exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy and the Paris Salon prior to his return to New Zealand in 1938. He became a teacher and writer.
