Born in Melbourne in 1945, Michael Meszaros is the son of Andor Meszaros. After attaining his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne, he studied sculpture in Rome. He specialises in sculpting medallions and works mainly on commission. Meszaros has exhibited since 1970. A major public sculpture includes 'Birds', a large copper welded piece at St James Plaza on Melbourne's St Kilda Road. Meszaros has won several awards in Australia and Europe.
