About George Alfred John Webb
Born in Kent, England in 1861, Webb studied widely in England and Europe before arriving in Adelaide in 1886. Principally a landscape and portrait painter, he was commissioned to paint the leading citizens of Victoria and South Australia. He exhibited at the Victorian Academy of Arts in 1887, the South Australian Society of Arts in 1898 and at the Victorian Artists Society in 1905.
