Born in Victoria, Stephanie Taylor studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne from 1914 to 1922. She was a painter of landscapes, etcher, lecturer and art critic, as well as a director of Tye's Art Gallery c1945-50. Stephanie Taylor lectured at the National Gallery of Victoria in the 1930s and was an art critic for several magazines and newspapers. She was a member of the Victorian Artists Society and the Society of Women Painters and Sculptors.
