Born in England in 1923, Marc Clarke studied at Canberbury School of Art UK, and at the Royal College of Art, London. He arrived in Australia in 1962 where he taught at Caulfield Institute of Technology, the National Gallery School and later at the Victorian College of the Arts. He has exhibited widely, received numerous sculptural commissions and is widely represented in public collections throughout Australia. A retrospective of his work was the first major exhibition at the new Redcliffe Art Gallery in Queensland, opened in 2020.

The total number of works by Marc Clark offered for sale by auction since 1971 is 17, of which 11 (65%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $1,952 for Girl on Park Bench 1967 sold by Gibson's Auctioneers & Valuers in October 2021. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2022. Works by Marc Clark are held by the National Gallery of Australia, Geelong Gallery and a further three major public national galleries (see list below).
