Born in Adelaide in 1941, Ben Shearer is a weaver, textile designer, watercolour painter and teacher. He studied tetxtile design in Geelong and Scotland, and worked as a commercial carpet designer before becoming a full-time weaver and painter. He taught art at Scoth College in Melbourne for 14 years. He is well known for painting the outback Australian landscape. Shearer has exhibited in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney since 1970.
