Born in 1869, Maude Fleay (nee Glover) was a painter of Australian flora and fauna. She studied at the National Gallery of Victoria School. Fleay exhibited regularly with the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors and she was a member of the Victorian Artists Society. In 1938 she exhibited at the Athenaeum Gallery, and before her marriage in 1905, also gave music lessons and wrote short stories for newspapers and magazines under pen names.
