Born in South Australia in 1870, Claude Marquet was a cartoonist for several illustrated papers, including Table Talk Hour, Sporting Life, Melbourne, Punch, and the Sydney Worker. Said to be Australia's first artist of the Labor Movement he became known - along with Syd Nicolls - as leader of the political left.
