About Mal Gilmour
Born in Bendigo, Victoria in 1943, Gilmour is a self-taught landscape artist who has exhibited widely throughout Australia. He left school aged 14 and worked at casual jobs around Australia until he joined the Australian Navy. He commenced painting in in 1967, held his first exhibition in 1968 and since then has had 32 one man exhibitions. He is represented in Australian Artists Today. After a major operation for lung cancer he is retired and has a studio and paints privately at Inglewood, Victoria. He is a survivor of the sixties art scene, and brushmen of the bush.
