Born in England in 1883, Elizabeth Wallwork (nee Donaldson) studied in Manchester and at the Slade School of Art in London. After her marriage to artist Richard Wallwork, they moved to New Zealand in 1911, settling in Christchurch. She produced portraits, and figure studies, working in oil and pastel. Later she painted landscapes, miniatures and impressionist flower studies. She exhibited extensively in New Zealand, including with the Auckland Society of Arts, the Canterbury Society of Arts, the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and the Otago Art Society and had work included in the British Empire Exhibition, London, 1924 and the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition, Dunedin, 1925-6.
