A New Zealand artist, Marilynn Webb was born in 1937, and after training at the Dunedin College of Education, she worked as an art adviser for the Department of Education in Auckland. In the 1970s she developed her pastel drawing work after being awarded the Frances Hodgkin Fellowship in 1974. She has represented New Zealand at print and graphic arts biennales and her work has been exhibited extensively throughout New Zealand and internationally. From 1988 she lectured in printmaking at the Otago Polytechnic School of Art, and in 2004 was made an Emeritus Principal Lecturer at the School. In 2000 she became an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit for her contribution to printmaking in New Zealand and in 2010 the University of Otago conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws to her.

We have records of art auction sales by Marilynn Webb from 1976 and in total 365 works by the artist have been offered for sale, of which 308 (84%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,296 for Cloud Landscape 6 sold by Webb's in May 2017. This year 10 works have been offered for sale.
