Born in Auckland in 1942, John Papas is a self taught painter in oils, and a sculptor in earthenware, clay, copper and steel. Of Sottish and greek ancestry he has travelled and worked throughout Europe. John Papas has exhibited throughout New Zealand and in Australia and Germany since 1963, and at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts since 1976. He lives and works in Auckland.
