Nellie Govett studied with Max Meldrum c1931. She was a portrait and still life artist, working in oils. She was a finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1929, 1932, 1938, 1939 and 1940. She exhibited at the Athenaeum Gallery in 1953. Her son James William Govett was also an artist and they exhibited jointly at the Athenaeum Gallery in 1957.
