Born in Hobart in 1919, Oliffe Richmond studied in Hobart and Sydney before moving to London in 1948 on a travelling scholarship. A sculptor, he was assistant to Henry Moore for a time, and taught art in London. He never returned to Australia to live, although he exhibited at the Australian Sculpture Centre, Canberra in 1967.
