Born in Melbourne in 1936, Rose is known for his paintings and graphics. He has had no formal art training, but attended the University of Melbourne. He held his first one-man exhibition in Melbourne in 1961. Several successful shows followed, and he has won a number of awards. His works are represented in the New South Wales and South Australian state collections.

David Rose is one of the most prolific of the artists listed in our database, with the number of works offered for sale by auction since 1976 of 474, of which 374 (79%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $2,945 for Mt. Ettalong (Sunday Afternoon) sold by Lawsons in April 2018. This year 14 works have been offered for sale.
