Born in India in 1844, Henry Prinsep studied in London and Germany. A businessman, civil servant and watercolour painter, he arrived in Fremantle, WA in 1866. Here he bred horses, then joined the public service where he became head of the Mines Department in 1894. He was the Mayor of Busselton for some years, and a member of the Wilgie Club.
