Born in South Australia in 1884, John Giles studied under Will Ashton in Adelaide and J S Watkins in Sydney. A painter of landscapes and seascapes, he exhibited with the Art Society of New South Wales about 1918. Giles' work is represented in the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
