Born in Goulburn, NSW in 1921, Guy Warren served in the Australian Army during World War II from 1941 to 1946, and then studied at the National Art School., East Sydney Technical College, and the Chelsea Art School and the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London as well as travelling and working in Europe from 1951 to 1959. He has exhibited at least annually in Sydney and Melbourne and participated in a number of group exhibitions. He received the Trustees Watercolour Award at the Wynne Prize in 1980, won the Art Gallery of New South Wales Archibald Prize in 1985 and his works have also been exhibited as finalists in the Dobell Prize.
