Florence Fitzgerald was born in London on 12th January 1859. She was the daughter of Victorian era fairy painter and portrait artist John Anster Christian Fitzgerald, and the wife of English artist, Walter Follen Bishop, having married in 1889. She is believed to have visited Australia early last century. She died on 17th January 1927 and her headstone records her as a member of the Royal British Colonial Society of Artists, The Liverpool Academy of Arts and an Associate of the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art.
