Born in Australia in 1926, Franz Kempf studied at the National Gallery School in Melbourne and in Europe. He was elected president of the Contemporary Art Society of South Australia in 1967 and was Senior Lecturer in printmaking at the University of South Australia from 1973 to 1981. He has been a guest lecturer at the Slade School of Fine Art, the University of London, the Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland; Gloucester College of Art, United Kingdom and has participated in over 90 one man exhibitions in America, Israel, Germany, Poland and China.
