Born in Launceston, Tasmania in 1953, Kristin Headlam's practice includes painting, drawing and printmaking. After studying painting at the Victoria College of the Arts, she lived in Vietnam in the late 1980s and had her first solo exhibition in Bangkok in 1984. On her return she studied arts and fine art at Melbourne University.and continued exhibiting in the eastern states of Australia in both solo and group exhibitions, with 20 solo exhibitions to date. Krtistin Headlam won the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 2000 and has completed numerous corporate and private portrait commissions throughout her career, including a portrait of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch.

The highest price recorded for the artist is $10,540 for Pale Exodus sold by Mossgreen Auctions in March 2017.
