Born in Cottesloe, Western Australia in 1905, Riebe studied at the South Australian School of Art and the School of Fine Arts, North Adelaide. Mainly a landscape painter, Anton earned a living from signwriting and commercial art. During World War II he worked in camouflage in Darwin and NE Australia.
