.John Patchett was born in England in 1946. studied at Grimsby School of Art, Kingston upon Thames College of Art and Brighton College of Art, between 1965 and 1971. He then moved to Adelaide, Australia where he lived and worked for 19 years. During this period he returned to England regularly to paint and exhibit his work. He became a full time artist in 1987, known for his fresh, vibrant pastel paintings. Besides holding over 40 successful solo shows in Australia and England, his pastel paintings have been exhibited in exhibitions in Japan, New Zealand and with the "Pastel Society", "The Royal Society of Marine Artists" and the 1997 "Laing Exhibition" at the Mall Galleries, in London.
