Matthew Quick began painting as a teenager, before becoming one of the University of South Australia's youngest students. Upon graduation, he joined a design studio working for major Australian corporations such as Rio Tinto, Foster’s and BHP. After a prosperous career in design and advertising and publishing a number of fiction titles, he returned to painting at age 35. He was a finalist for the Doug Moran Prize in 2013 and the Archibald, Wynn & Sulman Prizes, the latter administered by the Art Gallery of NSW, in 2012 and 2014. He travels frequently, has resided in the UK, Portugal & Malaysia.
The total number of works by Matthew Quick offered for sale by auction since 2010 is 27, of which 15 (56%) were sold. The highest price recorded for the artist is $13,800 for Pure Rationalism 2010 sold by Lawson~Menzies (now trading as Menzies) in November 2010. No works have been offered for sale this year, and the last sale we have recorded for the artist was in 2023.
