Born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1956, Peter Ferguson studied at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne between 1976 and 1979. In the early 1980s he to Europe to further his studies. He was a founding member of the famed Roar Studio in Fitzroy, Melbourne in 1982. In the early 1980s he went on plein air field trips with other Roar artists, and these outings helped him develop his style, as did the immersion in works of the Figurative Expressionist and Australian Abstract movements. He also developed an interest in stained galss, derived from his father and grandfather who had both worked in this field. He has exhibited since 1989 in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. His work is represented in the Australian National Collection.
