Born in Victoria in 1929, John Bartlett is mostly a self-taught artist but did have private tuition. Originally a figurative artist, in the 1980s he has moved to abstract thems. He held his first solo exhibition at the Contemporary Art Society in Melbourne in 1985 and since then has had solo and group exhibitons in commercial galleries in Melbourne.
